Previously, he spent over 18 years in biotherapeutics R&D at Bristol Myers Squibb and Celgene, where he led protein expression, ligand binding studies, molecular mapping, and biophysical characterization for early stage drug candidates. Mahan is an inventor on multiple patents, has co-authored peer-reviewed publications, and is recognized for building high-performance scientific teams that translate molecular insights into therapeutic innovation.
