DETERMINING SENSITIVITY TO FLT3 INHIBITORS PRIOR TO THERAPY IN FLT3 MUTANT ACUTE MYELOGENOUS LEUKEMIA

FLT3-mutated AML accounts for about 30% of newly diagnosed adult AML cases and is associated with aggressive disease and a high risk of relapse. The introduction of FLT3 inhibitors, such as midostaurin, gilteritinib, and quizartinib, in combination with standard chemotherapy has transformed the treatment landscape, with frontline FLT3 inhibitor–based regimens achieving response rates of approximately 70–80% in fit patients. Despite these advances, long-term outcomes remain limited, with real-world studies reporting four-year overall survival rates of approximately 20–25%.
